Galipan

          Galipan

Galipan The name comes from a chief of the tribe called Galipa Caribbean, which dwelt in that land centuries ago. The Spanish conquerors displaced Aboriginal and Francisco Fajardo colonizes the site now known as San Francisco.

It dates back over 200 years ago when settlers from the Canary Islands were established on the northern slope of Avila, in an expanse of rugged terrain.

During colonial times, the Spanish conquerors took the "high road" that ran through what is today the town of Galipan from La Guaira to reach Santiago de León de Caracas.

In the 50s, during the presidential term of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, was built the Caracas / Coastline cable car system, its first section connected to the city of Caracas with Avila mountain and the second section connected to Cerro Ávila with Galipan and Messenger, being an effective system of transport and tourism to the area.

When the cable car was virtually abanadonado by authorities in the late 70s, the people of Galipan suffered a serious crisis because the tourism in the area was small. It is from that moment that the people make their own businesses in the cities of Caracas and Vargas State, especially the sale of flowers and fruits, which became known among the people of Caracas.

Currently, the modern cable car system in Caracas is the most appropriate means of transport to climb the hill Avila, like the 4X4 jeeps ranging from a listed area in Caracas and Vargas Messenger to the village of Santiago Apostle Galipán.del by the date of the foundation and the evocation of James "the matamoros" to serve as a spiritual guide in the fight against the natives.
